Somewhat, perhaps. A different universe is a different life, it shouldn't be that surprising that a different me found the prospect of pawns that can't disobey an attractive one. I'm not entirely sure what it means that the idea never occurred to me.

The smaller details are more surprising. That other me is married, for one. I can't even imagine it, that sort of thing has never been among my options.
