Psychological reasons mostly. No one actually cares if you invade Stuttgart, as a less than random example.

That’s the only reason anyone does anything in my view: no good reason not to.

Here’s a question: why does it matter? I promise you won’t find my reasons sufficient. Why should you? I unleashed devastating force on your home.

If the same circumstances came ‘round again, the only thing I’d do differently is make fewer mistakes.

Look. I’d lost everything I relied on, tried to get some back and failed, then was ‘saved’ from a perfectly good suicide attempt. Said savior ‘suggested’ that I burn Earth to ashes and rule the ashes. He offered to make that possible if in return I handed one little part of it (just one rock) over to him.

I had no desire to experience what happens to those who turn down his generosity, and in any case the idea of ruining something so very precious to Thor was an attractive one.

So I agreed. Off I went! And, as mentioned, in the same circumstances I would absolutely do it again.
